Chegaga is four times the size of the dunes at Zagora and reachable only by 4x4 across sixty kilometres of open piste. There are no coaches here. Three days, one long crossing, and a camp with nothing else in sight.

Day 01
Marrakech · Aït Ben Haddou · Zagora
The Tizi n'Tichka, Aït Ben Haddou, Ouarzazate, then the Draa valley to Zagora. Night in a kasbah at the edge of the palm grove.

Day 02
Zagora · M'Hamid · Erg Chegaga
Tamegroute's library and kilns, then M'Hamid, the last village. From there the piste — dry lake beds, nomad tents, acacia — to the great erg. Camel ride, dinner and a night in the camp.

Day 03
Erg Chegaga · Foum Zguid · Marrakech
Sunrise over the dunes, then west across Lake Iriqui to Foum Zguid and north through Taznakht to Marrakech. Arrive evening.
